Annual Meeting

When you are a member of First Atlantic Federal Credit Union you are an owner of a financial cooperative. Each year, we set aside time for our annual meeting to inform our members about previous year’s business, future plans, and to elect members of the board.

First Atlantic Federal Credit Union (FAFCU) will hold its 87th Annual Meeting at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the First Atlantic Federal Credit Union Corporate Headquarters, 468 Industrial Way West, Eatontown, New Jersey, 07724. 

Following the business meeting and election, there will be a brief reception for members to meet with First Atlantic's Volunteer Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee.

Two members of the First Atlantic Federal Credit Union (FAFCU) Board of Directors will be elected at this meeting. A Nominating Committee chaired by Joseph Riepl nominated the following for election, who also are recommended for election by the current FAFCU Board of Directors.

 

HEATHER BROTHWELL

Heather Brothwell, currently serves First Atlantic as Chairperson of the Finance Committee and Treasurer of the 401k Savings Plan Committee. Previously, she held the positions of Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Governance Committee, Chairperson of the Supervisory Committee, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary of First Atlantic’s Board of Directors.

As a Certified Public Accountant whose professional career has spanned more than thirty years, Brothwell specializes in tax accounting and has implemented and served as a liaison for various tax programs. Prior to going into Public Accounting, Brothwell worked as a financial analyst.

Earlier in her career, Brothwell taught advanced taxation at the College of Santa Fe as well as computer accounting at Santa Fe Community College.

At the University of New Mexico, she earned two bachelor’s degrees, the first in Finance and the second in Accounting.

During the past ten years, Brothwell has served as both an Emergency Medical Technician and Treasurer of the Rumson First Aid Squad. She also supports several other charitable community activities.
 

CHARLES W. FOSTER

Charles W. Foster, is currently a senior Director for the First Atlantic Federal Credit Union (FAFCU) Board having served on various committees and positions for over 20 years. During that time he has served as Chair of both the Supervisory and Finance committees including at one point as FAFCU treasurer.

He retired from his Army civil service position, as Chief Business Management, PM Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems in 2003 and subsequently returned as a business consultant for PM Future Combat Systems where he served till the actual closing of Fort Monmouth.

For over fifty years he has been a member of FAFCU seeing and overseeing numerous changes, from the Fort Monmouth centric credit union to the community credit union it is today. From the one office on post to the multiple branches in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

A life time Jersey Shore resident, born in what is today the Jersey Shore Hospital, a graduate of Neptune HS and Monmouth University, with Masters in Business from Florida Institute of Technology.

NOMINATION PROCESS

The First Atlantic Federal Credit Union By-Laws also provide for nomination by petition signed by 500 members. Each member who signs a nomination petition must include on the petition their printed full name, FAFCU account number, address, signature and date of signature. FAFCU does not assume any responsibility for the safeguarding of the aforementioned information contained in the petition.

Nominations by petition must be received by the Secretary of the FAFCU Board of Directors by 4:00 P.M., February 08, 2023 at the FAFCU Executive Offices, 468 Industrial Way West, Eatontown, NJ 07724. Each nomination by petition shall be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating he or she is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office along with a brief statement of qualifications and biographical data.

Election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. Elections shall be determined by plurality vote and shall be by mail or electronic ballot if there is more than one nominee for each position to be filled. To vote or sign a nomination petition you must be a member of FAFCU and be at least the New Jersey statutory majority age of eighteen. If you are in the field of membership you can join by completing a membership application and purchasing a share for five dollars. A joint account holder who has not filled out a membership application is not a member and cannot vote.

Nominations shall not be made from the floor unless sufficient nominations have not been made by the Nominating Committee or by petition to provide at least one nominee for each position to be filled or circumstances prevent the candidacy of the one nominee for a position to be filled.
